  11. Could someone tell me the difference between synchronous and asynchronous 
  12. modems? Does Internet support synchronous communication? I have a Hayes 
  13. Optima 14.4 that supports both synchronous and asynchronous modes. Can I 
  14. expect any speed advantage (on Internet) if I activate the synchronous mode?
